Here at Just Cats Veterinary Clinic in Dublin, Ireland, we have recently released our annual pet name survey for 2022, revealing the most unique and wacky cat names chosen by Irish pet owners. Conducted over a 12-month period across 18 Village Vets veterinary clinics, with over 100,000 patients, the survey found that pop culture references and puns continue to dominate the list of most unusual cat names.

Taking inspiration from the worlds of politics, music, and Hollywood, here are the top 20 cat names of 2022:

Traditional favourites such as Tigger, Smokey, and Felix also featured on the list.

Commenting on the survey results, Roisin Foran, RVN, and head nurse here at Just Cats said, “We are always amazed by the creativity and humour of Irish pet owners when it comes to choosing cat names. From political figures to puns on popular culture, the list of names this year is a testament to the Irish sense of humour.”

Roisin Foran RVN

At Just Cats, we believe that a pet’s name is an extension of their personality and it’s always great to see pet owners take the time to come up with something that reflects their pet’s unique traits. The survey shows that pet owners are taking a creative approach to naming their furry friends and adding a little humour to their lives.

Just Cats Veterinary Clinic is Dublin’s first and only dedicated feline veterinary clinic. We are proud holders of the Gold Standard Award for the Cat-Friendly Clinic program, making them one of the only two Cat-Friendly Clinics in Ireland. At Just Cats, we do our best to alleviate these stresses and provide pet owners with information on how to make their trip to the clinic as calm as possible. From the waiting room to the cattery, “cat-friendliness” was accounted for at every step, and the feline facial pheromones that diffuse in the air throughout the clinic help to create a calming environment.

In the end, the survey has proven that Irish pet owners like to have the craic when naming their cats. Taking the opportunity to name their cat something that showcases the unique personalities of each cat. The clinic’s dedication to providing a stress-free environment for cats further reinforces the importance of pet owners taking the time to consider their pets’ unique needs and personalities.

Here at Just Cats Veterinary Clinic in Dublin, Ireland, we have recently released our annual pet name survey for 2022, revealing the most unique and wacky cat names chosen by Irish pet owners.
